China has recently expanded its visa-free and transit visa-free arrangements, but whether you qualify depends on your nationality—always check the official source for the latest information.

1. Common Visa Types

Tourist Visa (L Visa): For tourism and sightseeing

Business Visa (M Visa): For business-related activities

Transit Visa (G Visa): For transiting through China

Visa-Free Transit: Short-term transit visa-free options (e.g., 24/72/144/240 hours) are available for qualifying passengers

2. Visa Application Process

Typical required documents (subject to local requirements):

3. Visa-Free & Transit Policies (Recently Expanded)

China has expanded its visa-free entry and transit visa-free arrangements:

Visa-free entry for certain nationalities: Citizens of specific countries can enter China without a visa for up to about 30 days for tourism, business, family visits, or transit. Eligible countries include (but are not limited to) France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Malaysia, Switzerland, Ireland, Belgium, New Zealand, Australia, Poland, Portugal, Greece, Cyprus, Slovenia, Slovakia, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Andorra, Monaco, Liechtenstein, South Korea, Japan, etc. (Official lists are updated by the Chinese government and should be checked before travel.)

Transit visa-free: Eligible travelers with connecting tickets may qualify for short-term visa-free stay (e.g., 24/72/144/240 hours) when transiting to a third country/region.
